Michelle Devereux presents a series of realistically rendered drawings combining airbrush and colored pencil that depict some of her fellow Austin artists hoverboarding through surreal landscapes on slices of pizzas. Her work is an experiment in transcending graphic representation to reveal trite but true archetypes of human desire and fantasy that in the end aren’t just about her liking pizza or the people on them but rather humanity’s obsession with food and man’s desire to fly.

Michelle Devereux was born in Dallas, Texas, received her BFA at Bard College in Upstate New York and currently lives and works in Austin,Texas. She is a contributing artist for multi-media label, Monofonus Press, is a member of Austin Video Bee, a co-founder of an art circuit tap troupe known as What's Tappening?! and plays drums in a "doom pop" chick band called SSSSTORMSHELTERRRR.
